Andrew Nelson Lytle Papers (1988 Addition), 1902-1995.

The collection consists of copied material, including correspondence, writings, writings about Lytle, family documents and financial documents. Extensive letters from Lytle's wife, Edna Langdon Barker Lytle, are a highlight. Special Collections holds three collections of Lytle's papers: one acquired in 1968, one in 1988, and one in 1998. This is the third.

Andrew Nelson Lytle (Dec. 26, 1902-Dec. 12, 1995) was born in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and graduated from Vanderbilt University. He was a novelist, dramatist, essayist, and professor of literature. As a member of the Agrarians, he contributed a chapter to that group's manifesto, I'll take my stand. He taught at the University of the South and edited the Sewanee review.
